COURSE OF ACTION WHEN DISCOVERING IRREGULARITIES
TARRANT COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY ADVICE 2026:
1. If there is an issue inside a polling location (inside the 100 foot barrier) then the first call you should make about the issue should be to Tarrant County Elections at (817) 831-8683. This includes any issues any voter has had with casting their ballot, including mail ballots. After that please contact our Party headquarters to let us know as well, at (817) 335-8683. The reason is that only the elections administration can fix a problem inside the voting area, but we also need to be aware of it.
2. If there is an issue outside of a polling location (outside the 100 foot barrier), please call our office at (817) 335-8683. The elections administration has no power over what happens outside of the barrier.
3. If a security presence is required for any reason: inside the polling location, call the elections office, and they will call the Sheriff's Office to send over a deputy; outside a polling location, call the local police non-emergency number and they will send someone over. (Of course, in a true emergency, please just dial 911 no matter where you are).
4. There may be a few polls where Democrats are checking in Republican voters (and possibly visa versa at two locations). This is okay. This would be because either party doesn't have a judge for that site and both parties HAVE to be able to vote in order for that site to remain open.
5. Most locations have different numbers of voting machines per party. This is by design. The election administration weights the number of machines per party per location by the historical turnout in that location last election. That means if an area had more Dems than Reps voting at it last year then Dems will get more machines this year, and visa versa.
6. Please encourage your voters to check on wait times so we don't have people standing in long lines unnecessarily. Here is a good link for that: t.ly/WaitingToVote.
7. I expect early vote results to be published just after 7pm Tuesday night on the Tarrant County Elections website. Usually election day results come in waves every hour or two hours after that.
8. Unlike Dallas County this year, voters can vote at any polling location in Tarrant county tomorrow.

When you observe a violation (e.g. voter intimidation) DOCUMENT: Get the name of each person you reported it to and document the time in each of the following instances.
- First – smile and ask the offender’s name(s). See if you can get a copy of the documents.
- Second - find the election officials (there should be one for each of the major parties). Tell them what is going on and ask them to document it. Tell them: “Persons are not allowed to use wireless communication devices within 100 feet of the voting stations. Additionally, persons are not allowed to use mechanical or electronic devices to record, sound or images within 100 feet of the voting stations.” Texas elections code section 61.014 a, 81.002 poll watchers may not use these devices either but election officials may use these devices to conduct official duties. It is the election official’s duty to document violations of the law. Show the election official this law before you do anything else. After they have taken every measure possible to document the violation, advise every other election official at the site.
- Make a written complaint at the site. Each location should have complaint forms available to fill out. Keep a copy or demand a Xerox copy of the complaint.
- Report it to the Tarrant County Democratic Party (TCDP) (817) 335-8683 [email protected] or any other party.
- Report to 844 TX-VOTES (844) 898 6837
- Report the violation to Clint Ludwig, Elections Administrator. (817) 831-8683
- Report it to the sheriff’s task force. 817 884 1213
- Do not communicate these violations on social media or in forums as it might discourage voters.
Copy and save this on your phone so you will be prepared to respond.
